# Why did my custom avatar upload fail with “no face detected”?

“No face detected” means the image did not have a clear facial structure.

Try a centered, forward-facing image with one face visible. Avoid side profiles, cropped or tiny faces, multiple faces, harsh shadows, sunglasses, masks, covered features, or missing nose, mouth, or chin.

Check `failure_reason` before uploading another image.
